Sly and the Family Stone at Madison Square Garden
Santana at the Fillmore East
Bette Midler at the Bitter End (a tiny club in Greenwich Village...she was HILARIOUS. Her best joke? "I'm gonna buy Tricia Nixon a man-eating plant. Maybe she'll learn something!").

I had begged my parents to let me go to Woodstock, but that wasn't happening. Of course, a few years later I flew on an airplane without their knowledge. But at 14 I was still a little bit afraid of them.

The most fun thing about seeing these stubs? The ticket prices...
